curls to wavy ringlets. Some have a fuzzy nakedness on their underside and others a full coat. Newborn kittens'
coats can be anywhere from bald with wrinkles showing on their foreheads and loose skin on their bodies, to
having a thick full wavy or curly coat. It can take up to two years for a Devon's coat to fully develop. Because
Devons love attention, the only grooming they need or want is your hand running over the top of their head
and down their back. If you stop petting before a Devon wants you to, it will simply force his head under your
hand, reminding you to keep on grooming. Devons have also gained a reputation as being "hypo-allergenic,"
but this varies according to an individual's allergies. Anyone with sensitivity to cats should handle a Devon
before considering acquiring one.

Personality - Devon Rexs' unusual features compliment their unusual personalities. Devons do not act like
other cats. They act like a combination of cat, dog, and monkey all rolled into one. They fetch and wag their
tails like dogs. They are extremely playful and can easily run up your leg or pounce across a room in a single
second. Devons speak in chirps and trills, purring constantly. They will follow you from room to room inviting
themselves to help you with whatever you are doing. They especially love working with computers by standing
on your keyboard, blocking monitor viewing, or simply by keeping warm on top. Trying to read is nearly
impossible, since they insist on turning pages for you. Devons are extremely friendly, inquisitive, and very
intelligent. You will find that they will train
you very quickly.
First of all, you should know that Devons are addictive. It is virtually impossible to have just one!
History - The first Devon Rex cat was called Kirlee. He was an odd
looking curly haired kitten born in a litter of domestic cats in
Devonshire, England in September 1959. He was the result of a
natural mutation, which occurred when a curly haired tomcat fathered
the litter of a female stray who gave birth to this delightful kitten with
elf-like features. The Devons of today look very much the same as
Kirlee did in 1959.

Appearance - Devons are not large cats. Females generally tend to
weigh about 5 to 7 pounds with males weighing 8 to 9 pounts. They
are wonderful cats that have huge ears, pixie-like faces, long necks,
large inquisitive eyes, and coats that range from a full coat of loose
